Steven Leonard began working on his family farm at the age of 14, where he learned early the value of hard work, responsibility, and commitment. From there, he went on to work at Weston Bakery through Sears Canada before heading west to Alberta to work on the oil rigs. The work was demanding, physically exhausting, and often dangerous, but it strengthened his discipline, resilience, and determination to succeed.

At age 22, Steven returned home to Ontario because, as he puts it, “this is where home is.” He began working with Taggart Construction, helping build essential infrastructure including water systems, sewer lines, and roads. During the winter months, he also worked in Northern Ontario on drilling projects supporting gold exploration.

By his early twenties, Steven chose to pursue a skilled trade and entered a masonry apprenticeship. By 1993–1994, he had completed his apprenticeship, became self-employed, and worked through the Bricklayers Union while building a reputation for quality craftsmanship, reliability, and professionalism.

Over the years, Steven has continued working in the skilled trades while remaining deeply connected to his farming roots and community. As a longtime resident and landowner in South Frontenac, he understands firsthand the challenges facing rural families, farmers, and small businesses.

Steven is now running for Mayor of South Frontenac to bring practical leadership, transparency, and accountability to local government. His focus is simple: protect property rights, support responsible growth, strengthen community trust, and ensure municipal decisions are fair, open, and grounded in common sense.
